02:00 [02:00] Mindfulness Meditation: Short Introductory Course
Description:
The course is designed primarily for people who would like to learn mindfulness methods but who may not feel ready to commit themselves to a full length MBSR course, though people with prior experience may also find the course useful as a refresher. The emphasis will be on the main mindfulness practices; sitting and walking meditation and body scan. We will also introduce the basic principles of paying more attention to the physical senses, viewing thoughts from a broader perspective and developing attitudes of openness and acceptance. The course will be led by Derek Goodman from Mindfullybeing. The cost is £70 or £50 concession for four two hour sessions. For bookings and enquiries please see our website. Description:
Wednesday meditation evenings Meditation practice, with sitting and walking meditation and shamata yoga (no kit required). Individual meditation instruction is available by arrangement. Everyone welcome, just come along! We meet every Wednesday evening at 6:45pm for meditation, simple yoga, talks and discussion. Several times a year we will offer an evening course of five classes, or a weekend workshop lasting one or two days. We start with a session of meditation, then a brief walking meditation or shamatha yoga. We may have a talk by one of our resident teachers, by a visiting teacher, listen to a DVD or other recording, do a contemplation, read a book chapter or have a discussion. We end with tea and biscuits. Meditation instruction is available from one of our trained meditation instructors (Rod or Angie) by previous arrangement - either meeting before the main session, or at the same time if space is available in one of the other rooms. We do not charge for the meditation sessions or instruction, but welcome a donation to cover the cost of renting the space (this usually works out at around £2-5 per person)
