Description:
Learn to meditate: A one-day course on the practice of meditation, suitable for complete beginners and also anyone wishing to refresh or re-connect with meditation practice. Saturday Oct 7th, 10:00 – 5:00 Course fee: £20 (concessions available) In this course we will explore the following: The basic practice of mindfulness of breathing Good Posture (stable, comfortable, dignified), Placing attention on your breath Returning your attention when wandering, Relating to your thinking mind The value of meditation in our everyday lives Reducing stress and anxiety, Increasing focus and attention, Working with painful or overwhelming emotions, Understanding our own minds, Working with others – developing our capacity for openness, kindness, flexibility and friendliness Working with obstacles: Discomfort, Sleepiness, Distraction, Finding or making time How to develop and maintain a regular practice How to practice at home, Practicing with a group, Online resources Angie Newton Is a meditation instructor and teacher with Shambhala International.
