03:00 [03:00] Scoliosis and Asymmetries - Advanced Training for Feldenkrais Practitioners and
Description:
Scoliosis and Asymmetries - Advanced Training for Feldenkrais Practitioners and Students Date: Sun 30 July Time: 10am-4pm Price: £60 Venue: Salisbury Centre, 2 Salisbury Rd, Edinburgh EH16 5AB Understanding the specifics of scoliosis, both slight and marked and how movement is consequently affected in a three-dimensional way. We will explore treasures from the repertoire of ATM and FI, to help with the pain, stiffness, degeneration or restrictions which can arise, and the lack of ability to do particular movements, resulting from scoliosis. Whatever the asymmetry – whether from scoliosis, leg length discrepancy, long years of playing an instrument, or doing any one-sided activity, we will be seeking balance and ease. What you will learn: The basics about scoliosis. To be able to confidently “see” scoliosis, both slight and marked Understanding how lateral curvature in the spine affects rotational ability in the trunk, as well as affecting the pelvis, knees and ankles How breathing and balance can be compromised; what happens in the shoulder girdle, and how this can affect the humerus and scapular placement Develop some helpful FI’s ATM’s which are especially relevant to scoliosis will be taught on the Saturday (there are thousands, but I’ll choose a few!) Sunday will be more analytical - what makes these ATM so effective? When it comes to talking to medical people, understanding and articulating the edge Feldenkrais has with its emphasis on awareness and proprioception, over many conventional scoliosis exercise programmes.
